Daily routine

At opening, walk a calibration tag through each aisle. The gate must alarm every time. Note the date and tester initials in a paper log next to the till — auditors will ask.

Weekly

Vacuum the antenna base. Dust around the lower coil skews tuning. Check the deactivator with a fresh label; if it does not deactivate first time, the pad needs service.

Monthly

• Power-cycle the controller and verify the alarm tone
• Inspect cable runs for chafing under the entrance mat
• Refresh staff on the deactivation swipe pattern
